Trader Joe's highlights store brand miso in new contest

On its website, Monrovia, Calif.-headquartered Trader Joe’s announced its Master-at-Miso recipe contest, which invites shoppers to submit an “inspired recipe” that showcases Trader Joe’s Mild Yellow Miso for a chance to win a gift card.

“From appetizers to desserts, veggies to meats, soups to sauces, the potential for innovative ingredient pairing — with Mild Yellow Miso — is abundant,” Trader Joe’s said.

To be eligible for entry, recipes must include only the miso product and up to six other Trader Joe’s items (including binders, oils and seasonings), Trader Joe’s noted. They also must take 30 minutes or less to prepare (actual cooking can take longer) and contain no alcohol.

The contest runs through May 27. A panel of judges will select three winners, Trader Joe’s said. The Master-at-Miso winner will receive a $100 Trader Joe’s gift card, while the first and second runner-up winners will receive a $50 gift card and a $25 gift card, respectively. All winners will have their recipes published on the website, as well as receive a reusable shopping bag and a “super-special surprise.”
